Final Fantasy VII Intergrade & Intermission. The second best exclusive PS5

Remake Final Fantasy VII Amasive. Not unconditionally, of course, he had plenty of haters – but he returned the Final Fantasy to the discussion center, reminded everyone that could be expensive Japanese plot games, and carried out on equal terms Yakuza: Like a Dragon For the title of the best RPG 2020. Many hoped that in the 2021th period of its exclusivity, the owners of not only PS4, but also PC could enjoy the adventures of Claud. However Sony “Finalka” does not let go: an improved FF7R reprint with a subtitle Intergrade became an exclusive PS5 – as well as its only DLC Intermission.

The door washed me down

Improvements of Intergrade compared to last year's FF7 REMAKE for PS4 are quite obvious: everything that we expect from literally every game for PS5. This is support for two graphic modes – either 4K or 60 FPS – as well as a thiner tactile returns from the DualSense controller. Intergrade includes another pleasant bonus: a photo mode with many options.

The most striking remake problem – low -resolution skyboxes and impassable door textures – version for PS5 eliminated. However, it cannot be said that all the textures are crystal clear here. With this, how lucky: some are excellent, others soapy. In general, the game looks like a decent crossenet-Tailen: we are waiting for PS5 capabilities from the next part of the remake.

The fan theory says that Square Enix did not deliberately repair the texture of the door on the PS4 to motivate people to move to Intergrade

Praise also deserves that the transition to a new platform does not mean a loss of progress: from the PS4 version you can download a saving file to the cloud, and then import it to PS5-and instantly get all the trophies up to the platinum. You can recall at least the whole game, at least any segment to choose from, if there is a sie after the final.

The game itself, however, will throw only one reason to return to the adventures of Claud: this is a new boss, which will be added to the VR-symulation after passing DLC Intermission. Optional opponents in FF7R were not too complicated, and the developers decided to fix it. This new boss is Weiss from Dirge of Cerberus – will make you completely revise the approach to the battles: the old techniques that took place all its predecessors do not work with him. It balances on the verge between “very difficult” and “dishonest” and requires an individual approach, excellent reaction and strong nerves.

Weiss and his colleagues from Dirge of Cerberus were rather empty antagonists; They remain the same in remake

The rising star

But the main reason to pay attention to the updated FF7R is the Intermission episode, which is part of the Intergrade with a separate purchase and sold as DLC for those who pumped their version from PS4 to PS5 for free. He talks about a visit to Midgar Juffi Kisaragi, a ninja from the wool-state-defended by the evil corporation of the city-state-state. Her plan is to steal at Shinra the advanced development of the company in the field of magic, because in small crystals called "matter", an unprecedented force may lie. So Yufffi is going to help the Motherland, and take revenge on the oppressors.

Although there was nothing like this in the original Final Fantasy VII, this perfectly fits into the canon. Hatred of shinra and the desire to pick up more matter to raise Vutai from his knees, were the main sources of Yufffi's motivation-so it is natural that her journey should begin in the city where the headquarters corporation at the corporation.

Chronologically intermission occurs between 8 and 12 chapters Casper Spins sister sites of the remake: the heroes left to sabotage the fifth reactor, but they returned from there already without Claud; While typhoid is trying to find out the plans of the corporation, Yufffi walks in the seventh sector, until the death of which a few hours remain.

The whole Intermission goes to the charisma of his heroine. Yufffi and in the old FF7 was the brightest character – a real rebel, who often comes against the opinion of the majority. But there she, alas, remained the heroine of the optional, and this greatly hit her involvement in plot scenes. Intermission is the benefit of Juffie, which she deserved in full.

All the other heroes of the remake are completely injured. Barrett pours his injury into aggression, into terrorism. Tifa always feels in West: while she inwardly fights with conflicting emotions, the plot pulls her along. Iris looks funny and sociable, but she is endlessly lonely in her divinity. Claud – yesterday's vegetable, a completely frostbitten person without the past and future.

And Yufffi is their complete opposite. She is lively and sincere. She is only sixteen – she is no longer a child, but not yet an adult, and Intermission perfectly reveals this feature of her: behavior, and remarks, and facial expressions. She is naive and inexperienced, but comically tries to hide it with hypertrophied conceit, which is reflected in pathos speeches, which she willingly pronounces in any audience (and the absence of it). Her enthusiasm is contagious; In the company I want to spend not seven hours with her, but all seventy.

Yufffi's dazzling brightness is shared by her partner Sonon – it is emphasized by serious, laconic, with a tragic past. He prudently holds in the background, acting as the voice of reason, but in general preferring to agree with the eager. And he is her fellow countryman, a kindred soul in a strange, alien and hostile Midgare.

Together, Yufffi and Sonon first run along the seventh sector and its environs, collecting fake documents for penetrating the shinra headquarters, and then move through the crowds of enemies in the basement of mega-belt. The locations here are quite gray and inconspicuous, but this is the whole of Midgar: that the corridors are not gloomy, overflowing with mechanisms, then the drained lifeless earth and endless garbage. High Tech, Low Life.

In addition to passing a linear plot and performing a couple of side quests, in the seventh sector you can participate in the competitive mini-game "Fort Condor". In the world of the game, it is presented as a hillock, but in reality it is a simple RTS, where the player controls the spond unit, but not their behavior, and the one who will demolish as many buildings as possible in three minutes. Units are sometimes blunt, but in general, a mini-game leaves a positive impression.

In battle, we control one Yuffy; Sonon can be given commands or ordered to synchronize with the heroine so that he repeats the selected type of attacks on the chosen enemy and conducted joint super. Since the FF7 REMAKE combat system was built on the management of Aggro, Sonon has a skill that allows him to switch the attention of enemies to himself. Well, if this did not help and the villains were able to defeat Yufffi, the faithful partner sacrifices himself, resurrecting the heroine and passing her his health reserve. Thanks to this, the battles on Intermission maintain both the dynamics and the tactical depth inherent in the remake.

As a result, almost everything is good on Intermission – except, except perhaps, music (it became even more controversial compared to the remake): after passing this episode, I immediately want additives. If you have not yet tried the Final Fantasy VII Remake, then Intergrade is a good reason to do this, and if you have passed and want to brighten up the expectation of an announced sequel, then take DLC – it's worth it.
